Description

Arnewood Manor Farmhouse is a building of group value, dating from the 17th century, with possible earlier origins. It was largely rebuilt in the 18th century and extended in the 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of brick, featuring blue headers for decoration, with a thatched roof and a slate roof to the 19th-century addition. It has an irregular 2-storey layout, comprising 3 bays, a passage bay at one end, and a low 19th-century service addition. The front facade features a hipped brick porch on the left, with a planked door. To the left of the porch is a renewed 3-light casement window. To the right is a 12-pane sash window, offset and with a large 16-pane sash. Above the facade, at the first-floor level, are three S-shaped tie plates. The first floor has three 6-pane square sash windows. The left-hand wall is of older construction. Gable walls are present, with a stack at the right-hand end and a 17th-century external stack at the left-hand end. A hipped, single-storey addition to the left-hand end includes a 2-light casement and a stack built against the external stack.
