Description
The courtyard wall on the entrance front of Avon Tyrrell House was built in 1891 by W R Lethaby. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings. The wall begins at either end of the projecting wings of the house and features an archway made of brick and stone, supported by gabled piers. The length of the wall includes a large bow. At the far corner, there are diagonally-set brick and stone gatepiers. The far wall has a central archway flanked by piers, each with a stone shield, above which is a gable with wavy coping and a finial. Each side of the wall has a small bow.
