Description
The ruins of part of the Abbey precinct wall, dating from the late 13th century, are located behind and east of Palace Lane Cottage. Most of the wall has been rebuilt in the 20th century and is constructed from rubble stone. The wall begins as a boundary to the cricket ground approximately 100 meters east of Palace Lane Cottage and extends for 80 meters before angling and continuing as a higher wall for another 70 meters, part of which is situated behind Palace Lane Cottage. The western half of the wall stands between 1 to 1.5 meters high but has been rebuilt in the 20th century. The remaining section is about 2 meters high and features openings created in the 20th century.
