Description

Home Farm, also known as Norris's, is a model farm complex dating from the mid-19th century. It features milking sheds, a dairy, stables, a boiler house, and barns, constructed from yellow brick with red brick arches and a slate roof with iron ridges. The layout is E-shaped, consisting of a spinal range that is 1½ storeys high, with a central three-bay building that houses the boiler house, flanked by two single-storey five-bay ranges.

On one side of the spinal range, there are three single-storey seven-bay wings used for stables or barns. The opposite end features a projecting octagonal dairy, which is surrounded by a verandah. The spinal range includes windows with segmental heads of varying sizes on one side. At the top of the taller central building, there is a lucam. The octagonal dairy has timber posts at the corners supporting an eight-faced bell-cast roof, with a timber fence between the posts. It has a two-light window on seven sides and a plank door on the remaining side. High-set vent dormers with sloping roofs are positioned on the roof. Behind the dairy, there is a smaller building that connects it to the rest of the farm. This complex is a notable example of a mid-19th century model farm.
