Description
Palace Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into a cottage. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries, and was restored in the 20th century. The building is constructed of yellow and red brick, with the front refaced in yellow. The rear has weatherboarded additions, and it features old plain tile roofs.
The cottage is two stories high with three bays and a stack bay, along with a wing at the rear of the end bay next to a smoke bay. There is an M-shaped roof projection at the rear of the center. The garden front includes a late 19th-century wrought iron verandah on the ground floor, which is supported by closely spaced pairs of thin columns linked by rings. There are archways in front of each bay, except for the stack bay, with two archways at the right-hand end. French windows are present in each of these bays, and there is a plank door near the right-hand end. A small two-light casement window is located to the right of the center stack bay. On the first floor, there are two-light casements above the ground floor windows, except for a small single light in the stack bay. The building has end stacks and a large stack that serves two buildings over the stack bay.
