Description

The site includes garden walls and a temple located 15 to 100 metres northwest of Eaglehurst House. Dating to the late 18th century, the walled garden was altered around 1930, when the temple was built, possibly by Clough Williams-Ellis. The garden is a parallelogram divided into thirds by internal walls, positioned on the central axis of Eaglehurst House and Luttrell's Tower. A yew hedge with topiary work runs along this axis, breaking the garden wall in front of the house and the dividing wall and extending to the far wall, where it frames the temple. The brick walls are 3 metres high and plain, incorporating several pointed archways. The temple stands on a plinth of three steps, featuring four Tuscan columns supporting a full entablature and pediment to the front.
