Description

The Old Rectory is an early 18th-century rectory, later converted into a private house, with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of brick, including blue headers, with a plain tile and slate roof. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with a three-by-two bay main block set at an angle to the road, and a lower, four-bay wing extending along the road. The front facade features a slightly projecting gable on the right-hand side, which has a 19th-century gabled porch with a carried-round offset plinth, corner pilasters, and a gable wall. A double door is located on the left-hand side of the porch. A twelve-pane sash window is present under a rubbed arch to the left of the porch, and two similar windows are on the first floor. Above the windows is a first-floor band, surmounted by a half-hipped gable with a two-light casement window. The lower wing has a plank door in the right-hand bay and one or two-light casement windows in the other bays, with first floor end bays also featuring casements. Blind openings are present in the centre bays of the wing. The roof is hipped and features a stack above the door.
