Description

Waterfoot Farmhouse and the adjoining barn date back to 1678, with some alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The farmhouse features whitewashed rubble walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof, which includes whitewashed stone chimney stacks. The chimney on the right side is from the 17th century and has projecting slate drip stones. The barn has walls made of mixed slate and cobble rubble, also covered by a graduated greenslate roof.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of two bays, with the lower right section serving partly as a barn. A cross-passage doorway features a 20th-century door set in a chamfered surround beneath a Tudor lintel with a hoodmould. There is a three-light chamfered stone-mullioned window, while the other windows are sash types, some of which are double-glazed, all set in 19th-century painted stone surrounds. Blocked original windows can be identified by their individual hoodmoulds, and there are continuous hoodmoulds on the ground floor. A blocked fire window from the 17th century is located within a blocked window on the upper floor to the right. The barn has large central plank doors and an open gable end, and its interior features two pairs of upper crucks.
