Description

Calgarth Park is an early 19th-century house, formerly the home of Richard Watson (1737-1816), Bishop of Llandaff and Whig politician. The entrance front is three stories high and features a central semi-circular Tuscan porch with a cornice, a round-headed doorway, and flanking windows. Below are two windows set within Tuscan pilastered architraves with cornices on brackets; above are three windows. The top floor has three six-pane sashes. All windows are in moulded frames. A main cornice is supported by brackets. Symmetrical two-storeyed side wings each have two similar sash windows on each floor. Modern extensions at each end have been excluded from the listing. The house was formerly used as a hospital and is currently empty.
