Description
Keswick Railway Station building and platform, now disused, was built in the 1860s for the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway Company. The structure is made of Lakeland green stone and features a green slate roof. It has two two-storeyed gabled wings connected by a canopied entrance in the middle, with a half-dormer above. The building includes sash windows with sandstone dressings. The platform facade showcases three gables and boasts a very fine glass canopy that covers the entire platform, which is approximately 240 feet long. This canopy consists of about 20 gabled bays, hipped on the railway side, with a cusped lower edging, supported by iron columns and arches featuring delicate iron tracery in the spandrels. The platform is paved with stone.
