Description
Caffle House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house and café. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building features painted slate rubble walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof, which includes a large square slate chimney stack. It is two storeys high and has five bays. There is a 20th-century door in a plain opening beneath a painted stone lintel, and 20th-century windows in plain reveals, all under wooden lintels. The left bay is open and serves as a wood store. At the rear, there are three 19th-century gabled extensions. Inside, the property boasts a beamed ceiling, an inglenook fireplace with a hood, a heck partition, a panelled spice cupboard, and a recess for a salt cupboard. Additionally, a former external 17th-century studded plank door is now displayed as an internal wall feature.
