Description

This is an early 18th-century cottage located in Stonethwaite, Borrowdale. It is constructed of split cobble and slate rubble walls, featuring large, flush slate quoins, and is topped by a graduated greenslate roof with rebuilt roughcast chimney stacks. The cottage has two storeys and four bays. A plank door is set in a plain opening, sheltered by a slate and cobble porch. The windows are sash windows, with those on the upper floor featuring glazing bars, all set in plain reveals beneath slate lintels. A blocked doorway to the right suggests the cottage was originally two separate dwellings. A rear garage extension is not considered to be of historic interest.
