Description
Stonethwaite Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid or late 17th century, with 19th-century alterations. It features painted rendered rubble walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, which has a large original central chimney stack and 20th-century rebuilt chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has five bays. There is a 20th-century plank door set within a 20th-century wooden porch. The windows are sash style with plain reveals, and some are in enlarged openings. Inside, the ground floor has beamed ceilings, and the kitchen includes an inglenook with a heck partition and a firebeam. A blocked firewindow now serves as an internal recess in the central room. A lower extension to the left is not of interest.
