Description
A row of six cottages, likely dating from the 17th century with later additions. The cottages are built of painted stone rubble with a slate roof. They are two storeys high, with ten bays in total. The first bay rises to three storeys due to the sloping ground. The bays from the third to sixth are thought to be the original core of the building, while the bays from the seventh to ninth may have been added in the early 18th century. The first, second, and tenth bays appear to be later additions, likely from the late 18th or early 19th century. A slate dripcourse is visible on the first, second, and tenth bays. Most windows are casements, but the first and second bays contain sash windows. Each entrance features a slate gabled canopy. There are four chimney stacks running across the front of the cottages and one at the gable end to the right of the sixth bay, which is tapered. The rear of the cottages features gabled wings extending from the seventh to tenth bays. The cottages are now owned by The National Trust and are recognized for their group value.
