Description
The Red Lion Hotel is a public house that may date back to the 17th century but was refaced in the 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys tall with an attic and features three bays, along with a one-storey extension on the left side. The windows are sashed, equipped with glazing bars and margin lights, and have label moulds above them. There are gabled dormers, with the dormer in the third bay featuring a top-hung casement window. The entrance has a label mould and a studded, panelled door.
Notable architectural details include two corbels at the eaves, one depicting a man with a pig and the other a man with bagpipes. An ornamental iron bracket supports a lantern and the inn sign. The building has gable-end stacks, and the left return showcases ornamental bargeboards along with two sashed windows that have glazing bars and horns. The extension also includes a sashed window with glazing bars and horns, as well as a gable end stack. The rear wing features 20th-century windows, with two gables on the left side; the first bay has sashed windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor of the second bay has small-paned fixed glazing with opening lights.
