Description
Windebrowe is a house built around 1833 by George Basevi, which incorporates an earlier structure. It features stucco walls with stone bands, an eaves cornice, and V-jointed quoins. The roof is hipped and covered with graduated greenslate, topped with ashlar chimney stacks. The building is two stories tall and has three bays, designed in a Palladian style, wrapping around the west end of a low single-span house. The central bay projects and is topped with a pediment, which is mirrored by a central pediment over a Venetian doorway. The windows are sash style with glazing bars set in plain reveals. Although the interior was altered in the late 19th century, it still retains its original door and window woodwork, along with some fine chimney pieces made of wood and marble.
