Description

Marks House is a former farmhouse with an adjoining barn, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. The construction combines mixed limestone and cobble rubble, with roughcast on the side and rear elevations, and graduated greenslate roofs topped with stone chimney stacks. The main house is two storeys with two bays, and a lower, L-shaped barn adjoins it to the right. A 20th-century door is set within an alternate-block surround, itself beneath a keyed entablature. Sash windows with glazing bars are set in sandstone surrounds, although the window to the left of the entrance is an exception. The barn features a projecting cart entrance where 20th-century glazing has replaced a former door, along with further flanking doorways. A lower extension to the right of the barn has plank doors.
