Description
High Hall Garth is a house and barn located in Coniston Little Langdale, dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, with 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of stone rubble, with the house section painted and covered by slate roofs. It has two storeys and three bays, with the first bay being a single storey and added in the 19th century. There is a slate drip course present.
The ground floor features small-paned casement windows, while the second and third bays have fixed glazing and a fire window. The first floor contains two small windows. The entrance is marked by a wide gabled porch with shelves. The first bay includes an entrance and a casement window. The building has a cross-axial stack and a gable-end stack.
To the right, there is a 19th-century lean-to pigsty with slate slab pen walls. The rear of the property includes a kitchen wing and a barn with a lean-to outshut, along with barn doors facing north. Inside, there are plank and muntin partitions, wide-boarded doors, a stone fireplace with a range, and a stone stair. The property is owned by The National Trust.
