Description
Helton Head Farmhouse and attached barns date from the late 17th century, with later additions. The structure is built of stone rubble, with the house being roughcast, brick used for the stacks, and a slate roof. It has two storeys and four bays, with the fourth bay likely added later. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, although the first three windows on the first floor are smaller, featuring single glazing bars and horns. The entrance is located in the second bay. There are two cross-axial stacks and a gable-end stack made of stone with brick upper parts.
To the left, there is a two-storey outbuilding that extends back, which has a first-floor entrance accessed by steps and a cross-axial stack. A later barn at the rear features quoins and a hipped roof, with square ventilation holes. A similar barn forms the third side of the yard. The house includes a gabled rear wing with a gable-end stack. The interior, which has not been inspected, is reported to have 17th-century panelled partitions and other features.
