Description
Undercrag is a farmhouse that includes an adjoining barn and woodshed, dated 1835 above the rear archway of the barn. The building is constructed from coursed Skiddaw slate, featuring large flush quoins on a slate plinth. It has a graduated greenslate roof with cement rendered chimney stacks. The structure is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a lower single-bay woodshed to the left and a lower long barn to the right.
The entrance features a six-panel door set in an alternate-block sandstone surround. There are sash windows with glazing bars, including a double window to the right of the entrance, all within sandstone surrounds. The woodshed has a doorway and a loft opening, while the barn includes a through cart archway nearest to the house. The ground floor has plank doors and a sliding door, with lofts above, one of which has external stone steps. There are vents located below the eaves. The rear of the building has a projecting cart entrance and openings with sandstone surrounds.
