Description
Station Cottage is a late 18th-century building that originally served as a changing station for horses and is now used for storage. It features roughcast stone with a slate roof and stone rubble walls that enclose a front yard. The structure is one storey high and consists of four bays, with the first bay being recessed. The windows are fitted with casements. The entrance, located in the third bay, has a gabled porch and an inner studded door. There is a large cross-axial stack on the building. The wall to the right of the yard has crenellations and recessed crosses, as well as a round-headed arch. There is a 20th-century lean-to shed in the angle, likely replacing an earlier structure, and the wall in this area lacks crenellations. The front wall is low with crenellations but rises higher at the angle. Station Cottage is contemporary with The Station and is owned by The National Trust.
