Description

Curlew Cottage is a house, dating from the early 18th century, with later additions. A stone inscribed "I & MA/1724" indicates the original construction date. The house is built of rough-cast stone and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high and originally had six bays, though the 5th and 6th bays are likely later additions or conversions from an outbuilding. The window openings are varied in size and style; the ground floor has a large window with small panes in the 2nd bay, smaller windows in the flanking bays, a narrow window with chamfered reveals in the 3rd bay, and a square window in the 5th bay. The first floor has square windows to the first four bays, with chamfered reveals to the windows in the first two bays, and larger windows in the end two bays. All windows have casements. The entrance is a glazed door in the 4th bay, and a garage door is located in the 6th bay. The house has a gable-end stack and a cross-axial stack.
