Description
The Bower House Inn, located in Irton with Santon, is an inn dating to 1751, as evidenced by the initials "J.A." on the door lintel. Subsequent additions and alterations have also been made. The inn is constructed of wet-dashed rubble with a graduated slate roof, a stone ridge, and rendered chimneys. Its plan is 'T'-shaped, with two storeys and five bays. It features a plank door set within a monolithic stone surround and a corniced porch. There are two sash windows to the left, one to the right, and four above, all incorporating glazing bars. Low wet-dashed area walls with chamfered coping extend to either side of the porch.
