Description
The ramp barn and byres, which include a courtyard entrance linking it to the north return of Hesketh Hall, are likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. The structure is built of coursed rubble with quoins and features graduated slate roofs. The barn has two storeys and five bays, with a central plank wagon door on the north side leading up a ramp. On the courtyard side, there is a plank winnowing door opposite the wagon entrance, along with three byre or stable doors and two windows beneath a slate canopy. A wall with a timber lintel connects the barn to the house, and there is a lean-to slate roof covering a 19th or 20th-century store at the rear. This building is included for its group value.
