Description
The Potash Kiln is a structure recorded at this site since the 16th century and not later than around 1800. It is made of stone rubble and is a round building built into the slope of the ground. The entrance leads to a tunnel with a roof that slopes down towards the inside. The top of the kiln is overgrown and partly collapsed. This kiln is a rare example of an early industrial structure, which is sometimes mistaken for limekilns. The potash industry declined around 1800.
