Description

Thwaite Moss House is a house that likely dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of roughcast stone and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays. The windows are sashed and include vertical glazing bars and horns. The central entrance is adorned with a 20th-century open timber porch. There are gable-end stacks.

On the left side of the house, which faces the street, there is a recessed rear wing that has three bays. The first bay includes an entrance with a window to the right, a loading door above, and a large entrance further to the right. The third bay features a wooden chamfered cross-mullioned window with small-paned upper lights and a cellar window below. The first floor has small-paned fixed glazing in the windows of the second and third bays, with the second bay's window having a pivoted upper part. There is an entrance to the second bay and a re-entrant mounting block.

The right side of the house has casement windows, with the first bay containing a window that has a pivoted upper part. The third bay is recessed behind an open shed. Inside, the house has chamfered beams and a fielded-panelled partition with a dado rail, along with some wide boarded doors, a stone fireplace, and a flag floor. The first floor features wide boards.
