Description

Rusland Hall is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with additions made around 1850. It is constructed of stuccoed stone and features slate roofs. The building has three storeys and five bays, with two-storey, two-bay wings that are set back. The central section has a top cornice and parapet, along with quoins. The windows are fitted with plain architraves that have moulded arrises, and they are sashed with glazing bars and margin lights. The entrance is adorned with a Doric aedicule, featuring metopes on the frieze decorated with relief sprigs and trophies, and includes a half-glazed panelled door. The wings have hipped roofs and quoins, with windows that have architraves; the ground floor windows are embellished with friezes and consoled cornices and are also sashed with glazing bars.

The right return of the building has six bays and a central quoin strip, with windows similar to those on the front; however, the windows in the second and fifth bays are blind, while others are sashed and glazed. There are two stone stacks with chamfered angles, and similar stacks are present on the double-gabled roof of the central section. The left return mirrors this design. The rear of the building features a stair projection beneath a catslide roof, which includes a round-headed window. The left wing projects while the right wing is recessed and has a clock face. A wing to the right of the centre connects with a former stable block.

Inside, the hall and landing feature round arches with fielded panelling; the first-floor panelling includes fluted pilasters. The staircase is designed with column-on-vase balusters and fluted newels, and there is fielded panelling at handrail level on the wall. Some plaster cornices and decorative details can also be found throughout the interior.
