Description

The Packhorse Bridge, also known as Hacketty Way Bridge, is a late medieval structure made of coursed red sandstone rubble. It features a single span segmental headed arch with voussoirs and saddleback coping. A plinth surrounds the east abutment, forming a footpath, and there is a narrow cobbled pathway. The parapets are swept back at the approaches and were partly obscured with ivy during the survey in June 1984. This bridge is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Somerset County No 30).
