Description

Inglenook Cottage is a building that originally consisted of two cottages, dating from the 16th century, which has been altered in the late 20th century and is now a single dwelling. It features a red sandstone random rubble construction with a whitewashed facade and a thatched roof. There is an external stone stack located at the right gable end and another to the left of the through passage.

The original layout included two single-cell cottages separated by a through passage. The left cottage is accessed from the passage beside the stack, while the right cottage is entered from a now-blocked entrance on the facade. The building is one and a half storeys high and has two bays. It features 19th-century casement dormers that rise from the eaves, with weatherboarded gable ends. On the ground floor, there is a three-light casement window to the left of the entrance and a two-light window to the right, below a wooden lintel, with a blocked entrance beyond. The entrance has a peaked 16th-century door frame with inserted jambs and a stable-type part-glazed door.

On the right return, there is a small glazed opening in the chimney breast, while the left return features an early 19th-century leaded iron casement window with a segmental head and a buttress. There is also an outshut addition at the rear of the building. The interior has not been seen.
