Description

Allerford House is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-19th century. The exterior is roughcast over rubble, with quoins, and has a shallow pitched slate roof and brick stacks. The main south-west elevation was refenestrated in the 19th century, while the south-east elevation fronts the road. The south-east elevation is three storeys with an attic, and has three bays. Dormers have been added to the roof space, and a 20th-century window is on the right side. All openings have flat raised surrounds. The first floor has nine-pane sash windows flanking a semi-circular headed 24-pane stair window. A 20th-century window was inserted below the stair window on the first floor, and is flanked by 12-pane sash windows. The ground floor has 12-pane sash windows on the left, a 20th-century inserted door in the centre, and an early 18th-century leaded cruciform window on the right. A mid-19th century two-storey, single-bay addition with 12-pane sash windows is set back on the right return gable end. The left return has a refenestrated mid-to-late 19th-century appearance, with a single-storey porch. The interior has not been inspected.
