Description
The Three Bears is a cottage located in a row, likely originally two separate cottages, dating from the late 18th century, with possible earlier elements and alterations made in the late 19th century. The exterior is roughcast over rubble and features concrete double Roman tiles, overhanging eaves, and a large brick chimney stack on the right side.
The building is two storeys high and has two bays. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement window on the left and a pointed arch leaded window with Gothick tracery and large diamond panes on the right. The ground floor has two two-light casements on the left and a three-light window on the right, with grooved lintels and keystones above the outer bays. The central window appears to be a blocked doorway. On the extreme left, there is a good panelled door with a grooved surround and a keystone above a divided tracery fanlight.
The interior has not been inspected but may have originally been a pair of one-up one-down cottages that were later converted into a single dwelling. The cottage is adjacent to Myrtle Cottage on the right.
