Description
The bank barn over byre at East Lynch Farm is a mid-19th century structure built from random rubble local stone, with red sandstone and brick dressings, and a slate roof featuring overhanging eaves. The barn is designed to overlook a foldyard and consists of two storeys. The central three bays project forward and have curved corners. The first floor features two lancet windows flanking two central loft openings, with additional lancets in between. The ground floor has semi-circular headed openings arranged in a 2:3:2 bay pattern, along with irregularly placed rectangular openings. This long range barn occupies a prominent position with views across the landscape and is associated with the rebuilding of East Lynch Farmhouse, which is situated on the site of a medieval settlement.
