Description
This is a packhorse bridge located about 50 meters west of Lyncombe. It dates from the 17th to 18th century, and may be even older. The bridge is constructed from Lias stone and features dry stone flat bedded rubble. It has a single span with a pointed arch, rubble voussoirs, and curved abutments. The parapet is made of undressed stone set on end and ramps up to the center. The bridge has a humpbacked profile and retains remnants of a pebble pathway. This bridge is a fine example of a single span, humpbacked Exmoor bridge and is notable for not having been altered in the last two hundred years.
