Description
Jury Lodge is one of a pair of lodges for Pixton Park, now serving as a dwelling. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and was altered and enlarged in the late 20th century. The building features roughcast over random rubble, which is exposed in a recess on the south front, and a slate-hung main elevation on the east side. It has parallel ranges with slate roofs, overhanging eaves, and a large stack at the center of the left-hand range.
The plan includes a parallel range set gable end on, with single-storey additions to the north and northwest. The north front has lunette windows in the gable ends, with the right window blocked and the left featuring a 6-light tripartite sash window. On the ground floor, there are two recessed semi-circular headed niches, a 20th-century pivoted sash window to the left, and a 12-pane sash window to the right, along with a single-storey extension to the right that is not of special interest. The entrance is located on the left return in a single bay, featuring a recessed niche with an inserted 20th-century plank door with decorative hinges set in an exposed rubble surround. The lodge is included primarily for its group value with No 1 Jury Lodge. There is no remaining gate pier, and the drive to Pixton Park no longer passes between these lodges.
