Description
Bilbower House is a pair of houses located on the south side of High Street in Dulverton, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The right-hand house was partly rebuilt in the late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of random rubble local stone, with brick surrounds to the window openings of No 2. They feature a slate roof and a moulded cornice that runs across both buildings, along with stone stacks at the gable ends.
The layout consists of two storeys and two bays, with the left side having the remains of 16-pane sash windows that have an inserted 4-pane upper sash. The left-hand sashes have flush frames, and there are cantilevered hoods with gabled centres above them. The buildings also have moulded cornices supported by shaped brackets, fluted pilaster doorcases, and leaded fanlights. The entrance to No 1 has a half-glazed door, while No 2 has a panelled door approached by a flight of four stone steps with a wrought iron handrail.
