Description
A mill and millhouse, probably dating from the 17th century and altered in the 19th century, now used as a dwelling. The building is constructed of whitewashed rubble with a double span roof. The house section has asbestos slate roofing, while the mill portion has corrugated iron. A large external stack with a 20th-century rendered cap is located on the south gable end.
The layout consists of a parallel range roughly set with its south gable end facing the road, a north-west wing including a stable addition, and a single-storey addition on the east front. The west front is two storeys high with three bays, mainly featuring 19th-century casements in segmental-headed openings. An entrance is located between the first and second bays on the right, with a pantiled pentice porch and plank door. A single bay on the re-entrant angle of the wing to the left has an early 19th-century three-light leaded iron casement on the ground floor. A single-storey hipped slate roofed section adjoins the stable, which has two doors and one window. The right return side has 12-pane sash windows on the left and at ground floor level to the right, extending off the external stack. A wooden lintel is above a window in the gable end to the right. Double doors with a multi-paned window are located to the right, under a wooden lintel. The interior has not been inspected. The waterwheel is no longer present. The site was likely occupied by an earlier mill and remained in operation until 1889.
