Description

Holywell Cottage is a pair of semi-detached cottages, now combined into a single dwelling. The original structure dates to the 17th century, with an enlargement in the 18th century, and alterations made in the mid-20th century. The exterior is rendered over a rubble base, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped on the right side and continues as a catslide over an addition to the left. A large central brick stack with a moulded cap rises from the roof, along with a brick stack to the left of the current entrance.

The building was likely originally two two-cell cottages with a cross passage. It has one and a half storeys and four bays. The windows are all 20th-century leaded wooden casements. Three dormers rise from below the eaves. A single window is set below the eaves on the right side. On the ground floor, there are two windows to the left of a blocked doorway with a window inset, followed by a window to the right, and a window to the left of the present entrance. Two of the ground floor openings to the left are topped with wooden lintels. A plank door with decorative hinges is present.

Inside, the two rooms to the right have lateral chamfered beams, while the beam in the left room is axial.
