Description
The remains of a churchyard cross, dating from the 13th century, are located about 6 metres southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Giles. This cross is made of red sandstone and consists of the remains of a two-stage calvary. The lower stage features chamfered nosing and a square socket with broached corners, which have eroded to a wavy shape. The stump of the shaft is weatherworn and has a circular section, standing approximately 1.5 metres high. This cross is likely a remnant from the churchyard of an earlier church that once occupied this site.
