Description

This is a barn with a granary at one end, built in the mid-19th century. It features granite rubble walls and a gable-ended roof made of corrugated asbestos. The barn has a threshing area on the left, which is powered by a water wheel located at the rear, and a separate section on the right that contains the granary above. The left side is a single storey with a wide central doorway that has a timber lintel, flanked by small windows with brick arches. The right side is two storeys high, with a door positioned to the right of centre on the ground floor, featuring a stone arch and stone steps to the left leading up to the granary door. This door has windows on either side, also with brick arches above. There is a single-storey cart shed attached to the right. At the rear, there is a large water wheel with an iron rim and wooden spokes, sheltered by a shallow roof. The wheel rim is inscribed with "H. Beare & Sons, Newton Abbot" and the date "1893."
