Description

This is a pair of headstones from 1777, located approximately 10 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Peter in Peter Tavy. They commemorate a father and son, both named Oliver Blatchford, with the son having died at the age of 6 months. The headstones are made of slate and feature nowy heads. The headstone for Oliver the Elder includes a carved recumbent figure with winged angel's heads on either side, along with the inscription "REMEMBER DEATH" above. The headstone for Oliver the Younger has a simple winged angel's head carved at the top.
