Description

Holne Court Cottage, formerly known as Holne Court, is a farmhouse dating to 1725, as indicated by a tablet on the rear. It is constructed of roughcast stone rubble with a slate-hung gable end to the south. The roof is of asbestos slate, with gabled ends and a hipped corner. The building is L-shaped and includes a later rear wing. The west front has a five-window range. To the left are three sashes with glazing bars, and a central panelled door topped with a rectangular fanlight, sheltered by a porch with thin granite Doric columns. Smaller casement windows are positioned to the right. A rendered chimney stack rises from the south gable and there is a ridge stack near the north end. A slate-hung stair turret and a two-centred arch window are located at the rear. A circa early 19th century wing, also slate-hung, extends to the rear, creating an L-shaped plan.
