Description
A farmhouse dating to around the 17th century, with a later 19th-century extension to the rear. The farmhouse is constructed of whitewashed granite rubble, with a rendered gable end. It has a thatched roof with gabled ends, and a rendered chimney stack at the gable end. Originally a two-room plan with a through passage – the partition on the left-hand side of the passage has been removed – it includes a newel staircase located next to the large gable end stack. A large, gabled extension was added to the rear in the late 19th century. The main range is two storeys high and has a three-window front. There is a small 20th-century casement window, and a 20th-century plank door with a hood to the left of centre. A small stair window is located in the gable end to the right of the chimney stack. Inside, the hall features a large, slightly cambered timber beam with ogee stops. An axial beam is roughly chamfered with run-out stops. The partition between the passage and hall was plastered over, but the chamfered lintel of the doorframe, showing mason's mitres, remains visible. The partition between the passage and parlour has been removed, but was originally made of planks. A head beam over the partition is square and unchamfered. The parlour ceiling beams and joists have been replaced, and a later fireplace has been inserted on the rear wall. The roof structure comprises five trusses with side-pegged morticed apices and lap-jointed collars.
