Description
This building is a shippon, dating from the early 19th century, located directly to the east of Higher Lettaford in North Bovey. It features granite rubble walls with larger quoins and some cement block infilling, topped by a gable-ended corrugated asbestos roof. The shippon has a long rectangular plan and is currently divided into two cells. The right end is a single storey, while the left end has a loft above. The front is asymmetrical, with a double doorway to the right of centre that has a timber lintel, and a single doorway to its left, with single light windows in between, all featuring timber lintels. There is a first-floor loading door above the left-hand door. The right-hand gable end has been rebuilt in cement blocks and includes a doorway. This shippon is part of an important group of farm buildings and early houses in a small moorland settlement on the edge of Dartmoor.
