Description

The barn located about 10 metres south-west of Higher Combe Farmhouse is likely from the late 17th century or 18th century. It is built from granite rubble and features a thatched roof that is hipped at the south end. The barn has two storeys, with the east front displaying three openings with wooden lintels on the ground storey, and a 20th-century window with leaded panes on the second storey. There is a straight joint at the left-hand end, which aligns with the thickness of the gable wall. The west wall contains a pair of plank doors with wrought-iron strap-hinges that have spade-shaped terminals. Additionally, there is a plank door to the loft in the north gable, also fitted with wrought-iron strap-hinges. The roof timbers were replaced in the 20th century.
