Description

These are a pair of gateposts located at the east end of the lane leading to South Harton Farm, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They are made of granite and each post is round in section, cut from a single piece of stone and slightly tapered. Below the cap, there is a band of fluting. The cap itself projects slightly, featuring a hollow moulding around its base and a curved top. Flanking the gateposts are two pairs of square-section granite posts, which have rough faces with smooth borders and shaped tops, likely re-set in their current position.
