Description

This is a shippon, or cattle shelter, located about 15 metres south-west of Bowden Farmhouse. It likely dates from the 18th century or early 19th century. The structure is built from granite rubble, with a roof that is partly slated and partly covered with corrugated asbestos sheets on the north-west side. There are four ventilation slits in the side wall facing the farmhouse, and an owl hole in the downhill gable. The uphill gable features a loft door. Inside, the roof trusses are designed with hung kingposts and are scissor-braced.
