Description
Harford Bridge is a road bridge over the River Erme, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with dressed granite arches. The bridge features two round arches with recessed arch rings, with the west arch being a much smaller flood arch. There are cutwaters on both sides, and the parapets have chamfered granite coping, which is splayed at either end over the abutments. A bridge has existed at this location since the 16th century, and some of the materials may date from that time. The bridge was repaired around 1668 or 1669, and the current structure may be a rebuild from that period. The smaller flood arch appears to be a later addition, and the bridge has been widened on the upstream side.
