GV II

Barn on south side of garden in front of farmhouse, later converted into a stable. Probably C17. Granite rubble with a layer of cob below the eaves. Thatched roof, half-hipped. 2 storeys. Numerous blocked openings in north wall. To left is a studded plank door, possibly old, with strap-hinges; it has a C20 imitation Tudor door-frame. Above it is a C20 pantiled hood. The east gable and the south wall have late C19 windows with segmental arches of red brick and small-paned wood casements. South wall has a good plank door with strap-hinges, the upper and lower sections opening separately; above it is a plank door to loft. Owl hole in east gable. Interior has been used as a stable in late C19 and has good cast-iron fittings; posts with moulded tops and partitions with iron grilles. Roof retains some old roof-trusses with collars pegged to the faces of the principal rafters; no common rafters, just thick thatching spars.
