Description
The stables and coach house to the Old Vicarage date from the 16th century, with significant rebuilding in the late 19th century. The building features coursed squared limestone on the ground floor and jettied braced timber framing above, topped with a stone slate roof. It is a small cross-gabled structure accessed through a courtyard next to the Old Vicarage.
The street-facing gable has two storeys and a single window, which contains a 2-light casement with a fretwork grille beneath a castellated beam. Below this is a 4-light blind casement with a king mullion and a stopped drip. The ground floor wall extends approximately 2.5 meters to the left, forming a boundary wall capped with a square pier.
On the return wall within the courtyard, there are two garage doors beneath a small loading door, along with a 2-light 19th-century casement. The first-floor wall appears to be filled with lath and plaster. Overall, this building shows evidence of major restructuring in the 19th century while retaining elements of its earlier construction.
