Description

Woodbine Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features brick-nogged timber-framing, painted brickwork, and weatherboarded timber-framing, topped with a tiled roof. The cottage has five bays and is 1½ storeys high, with varying lengths of bays.

On the left side facing the road, there is a short brick wall with a sash window framed by studs and a blocked opening. The main section to the right has a brace to the wallplate, and the eaves are slightly higher. It includes a six-pane window and a single-storey lean-to porch with a brick base and glazed upper section, with a door on the right return and a boarded gable. A 20th-century wooden window is present, along with a corner post that has an angle-brace to the wallplate. There is a shorter bay to the right with lower eaves and a 3-pane window under the eaves, and a lower weatherboarded bay at the right end. The left end features a parapet gable and a square brick chimney located one bay in from the left, along with a gabled dormer that has a 2-light casement window in the center. The building was likely originally two bays wide and has been extended by one bay to the left and two bays to the right, with these extensions occurring at different periods.
